Sanwa Dock’s Headquarters Building (Innoshima, City of Onomichi, Hiroshima Prefecture) was selected by the Chugoku Block of the Nikkei Inc./New Office Promotion Association (NOPA) 30th Nikkei New Office Award to receive the “Chugoku New Office Promotion Award”. The award announcement was made in the August 4, 2017 Morning Edition of The Nikkei and on the Nikkei New Office Award website (Footnote 1).

The Nikkei New Office Award has been awarded for the past 30 years in order to spread and promote the creation of “comfortable and functional” office spaces based on the then Ministry of International Trade and Industry’s “Proposal on New Office Promotion”, which was announced in 1986. Particularly in recent years, as part of the Ministry of Economy, Trade and Industry’s “’Kansei’ Value Creation Initiative”, the function of offices in the improvement of a business’s intellectual productivity and stimulation of its knowledge creation has been cited as an important point in the evaluation process.

Sanwa Dock’s New Headquarters Building was built in July 2016 as part of our long-term large-scale capital investment plan, which also included the construction of a large-scale dock. It was built with the aim of further satisfying our visiting clients as well as increasing our employees’ business efficiency and making the office environment more conducive to work.

While keeping ship repair at our 4 docks as our core business, Sanwa Dock will continue to develop technology in line with the diverse needs of our times, such as ways to address the ballast water management treaty and SOx regulations, as well as secure and train the human resources that will support these projects.
